Dr Michele Tjeuw

Dr. Michele Tjeuw is a highly qualified and compassionate paediatric dentist dedicated to providing exceptional care for children of all ages. As the Practice Director of North Shore Dental Specialists, she leads a team at two convenient locations in Chatswood and Hornsby. Dr. Tjeuw's education includes a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (2001) and a Master of Dental Science in Paediatric Dentistry (2009), both from the University of Sydney. She is a Member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (Paediatric Dentistry) and a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Her master's research project focused on the use of microCT to image hypo-mineralisation of enamel. Dr. Tjeuw is registered with AHPRA as both a General Dentist and a Specialist Paediatric Dentist, holding a Radiation License for OPG and CBCT.
Dr. Tjeuw's clinical experience is vast and varied, encompassing hospital-based dentistry at Westmead Centre of Oral Health, the Children's Hospital at Westmead, and Sydney Dental Hospital, as well as private practice experience at St Ive Dental Group and Smilegroup, Castle Hill. This diverse background has provided her with a well-rounded understanding of children's oral health needs. She is passionate about education and has shared her expertise as a teacher at the University of Sydney, instructing oral health therapists, undergraduate dental students, and postgraduate paediatric dentistry students. She also holds an honorary academic outreach position at the University of Puthisastra, where she teaches dental students whilst providing care for the underserved community in Cambodia. Furthermore, she provides community oral health promotion to dental nurses, carers, and allied health professionals at the Cerebral Palsy Alliance, emphasising her commitment to serving children with special needs.
Dr. Tjeuw's dedication extends beyond her practice and teaching roles. She has a long history of community involvement, including volunteering with the Special Smiles program for Special Olympics, developing baby oral health programs, and leading dental teams for the Australian Health & Humanitarian Association (AHHA) in Australia and South East Asia. She coordinates an annual dental mission to the University of Puthisastra in Phnom Penh, leading a team of around 20 dentists. Locally, she coordinates meals for the local food bank and soup kitchen. She is learning Mandarin Chinese and enjoys organic gardening, yoga in her free time, whilst keeping up with her active border collie. Her dentist husband and dental student daughter keep her current with all facets of dentistry whilst her other teenage daughter keeps her up to date digitally. Her passion for paediatric dentistry, combined with her extensive experience and community involvement, makes Dr. Tjeuw a trusted and respected figure in children's oral health.
